The 9th instalment of the The Good Soldier Schweik. After Joseph Schweik was able to drain a whole bottle of cognac heroically in the previous part of the film, he is now ready to throw himself into the pandemonium of a battle. Entrusted with carrying out an important reconnaissance mission, he is taken prisoner by an Austrian patrol while wearing a Russian uniform. However, he is not executed for various reasons and survives the first bombardment in good health and spirit.
